December 20, 2008 -- Traffic Accident on Hwy 10 W
The roads were wet and it was foggy when HRS responded to a report
of a traffic accident involving a motorcycle.    Upon arrival, Station 14
had advised there was one code red patient and Carolina's Medical Center
was launched. One patient was found that had wrecked his motorcycle when he and
a friend collided while riding. When he lost control, he hit a brick building. HRS and other
emergency crews loaded the patient and ran emergency traffic to CVMC to meet the flight crew
 


December 6, 2008 -- Robbery/Shooting/Fatality
Hickory Rescue was dispatched at approximately 3:30a reference a
GSW (Gun Shot Wound) at a local business off Highway 10W. 
Deputies said the two men had broken into the store through the front window. One of
the robbers was armed with a shotgun.  The other suspect fought with the owner and
 deputies said the owner pulled out a pistol and shot the robber, killing him. The other
suspect was injured by the gun shot.  The driver for the suspects has been charged
with breaking and entering and larceny. 


December 6, 2008 -- 10-50 PI, Vehicle in Building
Hickory Rescue was dispatched reference a vehicle striking a building.
The Catawba County USAR team was toned out for a structural collapse response.
The occupants of the house were at home at the time but were uninjured by the
vehicle.  The building was not shored up and the house was deemed condemned
by the Hickory City Building Inspector.
   
   


October 30, 2008 -- 10-50 Pin-In/Fatality
Members from Hickory Rescue responded for manpower to assist Claremont
Rescue and Claremont Fire, in a report of a double pin-in.  Upon arrival, rescue
crews extricated the driver and passenger and rushed them to the landing zone
to meet flight crews.  The third passenger was determined to be a "F" at the scene.
It was reported by SHP that the vehicle was traveling north on Lee Cline Road when it drove off the right side
of the road, lost control and then drove off the left side of the road and struck a mailbox and tree.


October 24, 2008 -- Structure Fire Standby
At 15:00, a 911 call was received that some people were running away from a house
with smoke coming out of it.  Comm Center dispatched Hickory Fire Engine 1, Engine 2,
Ladder 1, C7, Hickory Rescue, Hickory Base EMS, Hickory PD, Red Cross, along with
numerous others.  Upon arrival, HFD immediately starting attacking the fire and got it
under control quickly.  29th Ave Dr. was closed for around 2 hours while emergency
crews worked the scene.


September 25, 2008 -- 10-50 PI, Vehicle in Building
At approximately 21:53, Hickory Rescue was dispatched to a traffic accident with injury. 
It was reported that the vehicle had struck a structure.  Upon arrival, the vehicle had
went down an embankment and struck an apartment complex causing damage.  This
triggered a response from the USAR team from Hickory Rescue Squad.  The patient was
transported to the hospital and Hickory Rescue stabilized the apartment until repair is possible.

September 20, 2008 -- 10-50 PI
At approximately 15:51, Hickory Rescue was paged out reference a traffic accident with injury. 
Upon arrival, Longview Fire advised heavy damage to vehicle, all units to continue on emergency.
It was reported that the vehicle below was possibly traveling at a high rate of speed, began fishtailing,
and lost control of the vehicle slamming into a Ford Pickup.  The car was T-Boned in the driver's side
and the car was ripped nearly in half.  Patient of the car was transported to
the hospital emergency traffic.  Other passengers of the pickup were uninjured.
